INHSU 2022

19-21 October 2022

SEC, Glasgow + Virtual

The 10th International Conference on Health and Hepatitis Care in Substance Users

Environmental policy

We are continually assessing and improving the sustainability credentials of our events, including choosing partners who share the same environmental values as we do. Below are some of the environmental policies that we have introduced to INHSU 2022.

Conference handbook

Our conference handbook is printed on recycled paper and has reduced in size to only include the essential information, with the rest available in our app.

Lanyards & name badges

We are using the last of our recycled lanyards and will be moving towards eco-friendly bamboo fibre lanyards. We provide recyclable name badges without a plastic pouch.

Catering

We monitor final delegate numbers for an accurate forecast of catering requirements in order to avoid waste.

Travel

There are lots of options for delegates travelling interstate or internationally to attend our conferences who want to offset CO2. Most airline companies offer this as part of their booking process. You can also offset via Atmosfair and Greenfleet.

Meetings and site visits

We endeavour to minimise travel for planning the conferences through the use of teleconferences meetings. This removes the need to organise face to-face meetings and to only hold meetings when necessary.

Venue

We aim to work with venues that enforce sustainability practices and policies. The Scottish Event Campus is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its operations and the events that take place in their venues. There are many ways in which the SEC are doing this, including:

  • They have partnered with Trees for Life and donate trees on behalf of their conference clients, contributing to the regeneration of the Caledonian Forest in the Scottish Highlands. They have donated 170,000 trees to date.
  • Their partnership with Launch Foods sees them providing surplus food to help feed children in deprived areas across Glasgow after school and during holidays.
