Point-of-Care Antibody Testing for Hepatitis C

All three women were treated for hepatitis C using new Direct Acting Antiviral (DAA) medication at Cairns Sexual Health Service. With the introduction of the new DAA’s in 2016, Cairns Sexual Health has been the driving service among a broader network that includes Lotus Glen Prison, Youthlink Needle and Syringe Program and the Cairns Hospital’s Liver Health Clinic. Collectively the services have achieved very high rates of hepatitis C testing and treatment.
